Athlete Profile: Kathy Painter

Meet our Athletes: Kathy Painter

Joined Peninsula CrossFit in:

March 2018

Favourite WOD or Movement:

Deadlift, only because it’s my jam.

Proudest accomplishment:

In Crossfit there are many. The more you do, the more you can do i.e. kipping pull ups. My biggest is placing 19th in my masters division, eastern Canada in the 2017 Crossft open ( my first open) RX’d all WODs.

Advice for someone just starting CrossFit:

Crossfit is for everyone. I love that there are people from all walks of life, all ages, male, female, new moms (Peninsula CrossFit has child minding at 9:30am) and all levels of fitness. Just come in and try it. All movements can be modified for your ability. No matter the reason why you want to start, or continue… (lose some weight, increase strength, expand fitness level, maintain or improve your health) there is something for everyone. When I first started CrossFit, I couldn’t perform most of the movements well, but as I keep working on them, I surprise myself all the time when I make a break through.

The biggest benefit for joining Peninsula CrossFit is the people that make it feel like a family. The coaches are knowledgeable, warm, friendly, very supportive and really care about you. The members are very welcoming and supportive and I have made many new friends.

Goals for this year:

String more kipping pull ups and toes to bar together.

What we have to add about this athlete:

We’re so glad Kathy moved here and joined our family. She lights up the room when she comes in and is the loudest cheerer for anyone still on the floor. She is always eager for coaching cues to help her keep improving and yet she is already a wealth of knowledge. Is there anything this woman can’t do?
