Athlete Profile: Liam Gormican

Athlete’s Name: Liam Gormican

Joined Peninsula CrossFit in: September 2017

Favourite WOD or Movement: Clean and Jerk. I think it is the most impressive Olympic lift and it is amazing how people can lift such heavy weight from the ground, to their shoulders, and then overhead.

Least favourite WOD or Movement: I would not say I have a least favourite WOD or movement. There are things that are more challenging for me, but that does not mean I dislike them. I see it as a chance to improve.

Proudest accomplishment: I think one of the great parts of CrossFit is seeing all the small accomplishments you make from week to week. Whether that be a personal best or simply learning new technique to help you better a movement.

Advice for someone just starting CrossFit: Forget about anything anyone has told you about Crossfit. You have to come in with an open mind to learn new things and you will be challenged. One of the best parts about Crossfit is the community that comes with it.

Goals for this year: Ring and Bar muscle ups.

What we have to add about this athlete: Liam is dedicated to his craft. He is diligent at working on weaknesses and always takes the time to do a movement with safe and effective form. It is great seeing Liam improve as an athlete and competitor!
